Storage
App Using Substantial Space
Section titled “App Using Substantial Space”Symptom: Spark is using more storage than expected on your device.
Solution: Use the Storage Manager (accessible from the library menu) to view a breakdown of storage usage and manage your games, backups, and cached data.
Spark automatically clears temporary app directories (trash, temp, and inbox) each time the app launches. This means leftover files from failed imports or other temporary operations are cleaned up without any action needed from you.
Running Low on Storage
Section titled “Running Low on Storage”Symptom: Can’t import new games or saves fail due to lack of space.
Solutions:
- Use Storage Manager — Check which games use the most space
- Delete unused games — Remove games you’re not playing
- Clean up backups — Reduce max backup slots or delete old backups
- Clear translation cache — In Game Settings > Translation > Clear Cache
How Much Space Do Games Need?
Section titled “How Much Space Do Games Need?”Game sizes vary widely:
- Small visual novels: 50-200 MB
- Medium games: 200 MB - 1 GB
- Large games with voice acting/video: 1-5 GB
- Very large games: 5+ GB
You need at least 2x the archive size for import (archive + extracted files). The archive can be deleted after import.
Checking Storage Usage
Section titled “Checking Storage Usage”- Open the Storage Manager from the main menu
- View per-game breakdown of storage used
- iOS Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Spark also shows total usage
Offloading vs Deleting
Section titled “Offloading vs Deleting”iOS can “offload” apps to free space while keeping data. If Spark is offloaded:
- Game files in Documents are preserved
- Reinstalling Spark restores access to your games
- Save files are kept intact
iCloud Storage
Section titled “iCloud Storage”If using iCloud sync, your save files and backups count toward your iCloud storage quota. Monitor usage in iOS Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud.
