Your First Game
Getting a Game
Section titled “Getting a Game”Ren’Py games are distributed as archives (usually ZIP or APK files) containing the game files. You’ll need to obtain a game archive before importing it into Spark.
Common sources include:
- itch.io — Many free and paid visual novels
- Game developer websites
- Android APK files from games you own
Importing a Game
Section titled “Importing a Game”Use Spark’s built-in import menu to add games:
- Open Spark and tap the Import button in the library
- The system file picker will appear — browse to your game archive
- Select the file and Spark will extract and import the game automatically
After Import
Section titled “After Import”Once imported, the game will appear in your library with:
- Auto-detected game title
- Suggested Ren’Py engine version
- A color tag (default: blue)
Tap the game to launch it. The first launch may take a moment as Spark configures the engine.

- APK file appears grayed out? — Disable file filtering in Settings > Game Library
